Healthy Chocolate Digestive Biscuits (McVitie’s Inspired)



Love classic McVitie’s Digestives but want something with more protein, more fiber, and fewer calories? These homemade digestives deliver the same buttery, crumbly texture with the added benefits of whole grains, wheat bran, Greek yogurt, and protein powder. They’re delicious on their own, but dipping them in dark chocolate takes them to the next level.
Perfect with a cup of coffee, as an afternoon snack, or whenever you’re craving a healthier version of a nostalgic favorite.
Ingredients
For the Digestive Biscuits
- 180g whole wheat flour
- 40g oat flour
- 20g wheat bran
- 30g vanilla or unflavored whey/casein protein powder
- 50g powdered sugar
- 7g molasses
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Dash of cinnamon
- 70g cold butter, cubed
- 75g 0% Greek yogurt
- 38g skim milk
For the Chocolate Coating
- 75g dark chocolate chips
- 15g coconut oil
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, oat flour, wheat bran, protein powder, powdered sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Grate the frozen butter, and work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the Greek yogurt and molasses. Add the milk slowly and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough out to approximately 1/8th-inch thickness. Cut into rounds and prick each biscuit several times with a fork.
- Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 16-17 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
- Allow the biscuits to cool completely. They will continue to crisp as they cool.
For the Chocolate-Dipped Version
- Melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil together until smooth.
- Dip one side of 21 biscuits into the chocolate mixture and place on parchment paper, chocolate side up.
- Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving.

21 chocolate coated biscuits and 6 plain biscuits.
